Why watch this film?

Movies about troubled children are a constant in cinema and have been responsible for some of the most fascinating stories of recent times. 'Explosive Disorder', a German film awarded at the São Paulo International Film Festival in 2019, is one of the most drastic, sad and profound examples. And one of the most delicate is 'Pelikanblut', the new film by filmmaker Katrin Gebbe ('Nothing Bad Can Happen'). Here, the viewer follows a turbulent relationship between a woman who trains police horses with a girl who adopts her. Although there are problems with the rhythm and pace of the story, the strength of Gebbe's sensitivity and the good chemistry between the two protagonists end up making the film crystallize, in some way, in the heart of the audience.
