Movie that seems to come straight out of a 1990s alternative cinema session, 'Cats & Dogs 3: Paws Unite!' is the third chapter of this franchise of films that mix talking animals, comic situations and a somewhat bizarre atmosphere. After all, it's a movie that causes strangeness right away -- much because of this already highlighted nineties vibe -- and for the somewhat outdated special effects. But the familiar atmosphere of the plot, about dogs and cats that are secret agents saving the world hidden from humans, has a certain charm. And, in the end, it ends up being a useful entertainment. It's not memorable, nor brilliantly directed. But it's light and helps pass the time.

Plot summary
It's been 10 years since the creation of the Great Truce, an elaborate joint-species surveillance system designed and monitored by cats and dogs to keep the peace when conflicts arise. But when a tech-savvy villain hacks into wireless networks to use frequencies only heard by cats and dogs, he manipulates them into conflict, and the worldwide battle between cats and dogs is back on. Now, a team of inexperienced and untested agents will have to use their old-school animal instincts to restore order and peace between cats and dogs everywhere.

The performances of Dennis Quaid (A Dog's Purpose) and Heather Graham (Twin Peaks) are convincing, even if the discourse of this Christian film is preachy, which could cause some rejection from those who don't sympathize with its vision.

Based on Vonda N. McIntyre's work, 'The Moon and The Sun', this fantasy epic tells the story of Louis XIV (Pierce Brosnan) who steals the power of a mermaid (Bingbing Fan) in search of immortality and the plan backfires when his daughter (Kaya Scodelario) forms a relationship with the mystical creature. Doing justice to the grandeur of the book, the movie is very well done and features great performances from the cast - in addition to the aforementioned, it also stars William Hurt, Benjamin Walker, Ben Lloyd-Hughes, Rachel Griffiths and Crystal Clarke.

Sometimes we get so carried away by the marketing power of studios like Disney Pixar, and we overlook other avenues for deep and powerful animated stories that don't need excessively complex plots to evoke emotions. Such is the case with Robot Dreams, a Hispanic-French production directed by Pablo Berger (2012’s Snow White), based on the eponymous graphic novel by Sara Varon. Set in New York during the 80s, the story follows Dog, whose solitary life leads him to buy a robot for companionship. Their friendship grows, but an unfortunate day at the beach forces them to separate and long for the day of their reunion. Virtually without dialogue, with vibrant animation and a captivating visual language, the film tells a simple yet profoundly moving story about (curiously) human relationships and the course they take despite (or because of) accidents, fortuitous circumstances, and uncontrollable events that happen throughout life.
