Why watch this film?

In Brazil, it's not just independent dramas and besteirol comedies. In the midst of our rich national production, we also find what are known as "genre films", such as action, adventure and, of course, science fiction. "Yesterday There Were Strange Things in the Sky," a provocative and disturbing film by first-time feature filmmaker Bruno Risas, follows this genre so well-known because of "Star Wars," "Star Trek" and other great franchises. Following in the footsteps of the great "The Stone of the Serpent" and the horror cinema of Marco Dutra and Juliana Rojas (from "Good Manners"), this new feature film takes advantage of an extraterrestrial abduction to discuss all too human themes, such as loneliness, family roles and the invisibility of the poorest. It is a delicate film, sometimes experimental, which knows how to reach its dramatic goals through an unusual path in Brazilian cinema. To be seen, felt and reflected upon, without prejudice or pre-established ideas.
