Why watch this film?

Amazon Prime Video has partnered with production company Blumhouse to launch a collection of horror and suspense films on its platform. 'Nocturne' is one of the releases. A mix of 'Whiplash' and 'Suspiria', this feature film directed and written by first-time feature filmmaker Zu Quirke tells the story of an envious sister. In this case, Juliet (Sydney Sweeney from the series 'Euphoria'), a girl who always feels overshadowed by her sister. However, just like the impactful 'The Perfection' on Netflix, she ends up making a pact with the devil to take her sister's place. The plot is not as well conducted as it seems at first glance, resembling more of a cheap suspense for television than a real Blumhouse production. However, Sydney Sweeney's good performance and the increasing tension over the fate of the plot are enough to grab the attention of the viewer who likes simpler suspense, with some supernatural aspects. It won't change anyone's life. But it can be a good pastime.
