Why watch this film?

The premise of 'Hippopotamus' is excellent. Drawing from the source of 'Cloverfield Street 10', the movie tells the story of a girl (Ingvild Deila) who wakes up in a strange room. Soon, a man (Stuart Mortimer) appears and says: "you have been kidnapped, your legs are broken. You will only leave this place when you love me". From there, first-time director Edward A. Palmer delves into a plot of fear, paranoia and trust. Who is this man? Is he telling the truth? What did he mean? It's a movie that holds the viewer's attention and walks through twisted narratives, giving the feeling that it would work better as a short than as a feature film. However, fans of the good old suspense will find here an interesting freshness in the young and creative mind of Edward A. Palmer who fulfills what the genre requires: makes the viewer put himself in the shoes of the characters and think how he would deal with the situation? And I advance: do not believe that the movie will follow easy paths or decisions. Everything here is intricate and dynamic.
