Do you want to watch a powerful, strong and emotional drama about problem children? Then 'Systemsprenger' is the movie for you. Chosen to represent Germany at the 2020 Oscars, this feature film by Nora Fingscheidt ('Brüderlein') tells the story of Benni (Helena Zengel), a violent child with frequent outbursts of rage who is not accepted by any type of boarding school or temporary home. In this way, she is thrown from one side to the other, without a future, just waiting for her mother. The movie is a punch in the stomach from start to finish. Intentionally uncomfortable, it's irritating to endure the protagonist's guttural screams at the beginning. They are guttural screams that mess with the viewer's head. But Nora's own script development is spectacular. The plot advances, but Benni stays still - which can sometimes lead to a feeling of repetition of stories. But the fact is that the viewer, through this stagnation of the character, will understand her behavior, her suffering, her pains. There is no approval of what she does. But there is a transformative feeling at the end.

Nora Fingscheidt, from 'Explosive Disorder', is the director of 'The Unforgivable', which stars Sandra Bullock as Ruth, a former inmate trying to adjust to a society that no longer sees her as a human being. The weight of having served a sentence seems to be more than the time in prison in this situation. At various moments, we see that Ruth would have preferred to die or stay in prison than face the world again. 'The Unforgivable' proposes reflections on this and also on the prison system - it is no surprise to anyone that it is full of problems. Another thing that stays in mind is whether we should judge every criminal for their crimes or if they deserve redemption for having "paid" for it. Sandra Bullock delivers a great level of performance, making us feel in Ruth's place, providing a constant feeling of fear and frustration with the future.

In Kidnapped (Rapito), Italian filmmaker Marco Bellocchio delves into one of the murkiest and most controversial episodes in the history of the Catholic Church, the "Mortara case". In 1851, when Jewish boy Edgardo Mortara becomes gravely ill, his Catholic nanny decides to baptize him in an emergency. However, papal law dictates that all Catholics must be raised as such, so the cardinal orders the boy to be taken and handed over to the church, against his parents' wishes, who decide to fight for him. The film recounts a controversial case that captured the attention of the rest of Europe and America, and skillfully portrays the clash of interests between the waning power of the church, Mortara's parents, and public opinion, with irreversible consequences for all involved.
