The protagonist played by actress and singer Grace VanderWaal won the 11th season of the reality show 'America's Got Talent' at only 12 years old. She enchanted the internet with her musical abilities and now she is the star of one of Disney's movies. VanderWaal seems to have been born for this role and it is very clear in the production, since she delivers a very natural performance. Another highlight is Graham Verchere, who also surprises in the movie. 'Stargirl' tells a beautiful, magical and music-filled story. The screenplay is based on the novel 'Stargirl' by author Jerry Spinelli.

Sequence of the Disney film 'Hollywood Stargirl', based on the eponymous young adult novel by Jerry Spinelli. In this sequence, Stargirl Caraway (played by singer Grace VanderWaal, back in the role) moves to Hollywood with her mother (Judy Greer) when she is hired as a costume designer on a movie. The teen then meets various different characters, including a pair of brothers who dream of being filmmakers, as well as a legendary singer she admires (Uma Thurman). 'Hollywood Stargirl' maintains the usual sweet tone of Disney productions, making it the ideal choice to watch as a family a hopeful story about embracing possibilities and the unknown.

The plot of How to Date Billy Walsh is set in Britain, but follows the same formula as many other similar proposals from the United States: a guy, Archie, has been friends with Amelia since childhood, but secretly loves her. However, when he finally gathers the courage to confess, she falls for Billie Walsh, a handsome and athletic exchange student. The story is predictable and, except for a Netflix Sex Education-like layer of paint, there's not much new. However, it's a good contender for a Gen Z classic.
The Taste of Things
From Vietnamese-French director Anh Hung Tran (The Scent of Green Papaya) and starring the legendary Juliette Binoche and Benoît Magimel, The Taste of Things was France's selection for the 2024 Oscars, although it was not nominated. Set in 1889 and based on the character of Dodin-Bouffant created by Marcel Rouff, the story follows a chef (Magimel) enchanted by his cook (Binoche), for whom he feels not only culinary admiration, but genuine love. However, she is not ready to take the step into marriage and is happy and content with the relationship they have. Sensual in its visuality and narrative, it is a powerful story of love and about love, which, while not entirely breaking free from conventions, is elevated by the formidable talent of its protagonists.
