Junglee

A vet fights an international poachers racket on his father's elephant reserve.

Trailer

Why watch this film?

The hunting market is a global problem and there are several movies that talk about it. In a slightly more childish and playful way, there is the simple 'The Girl and the Lion'. For those who want something more brutal and painful, there is Ulrich Seidl's disturbing documentary, 'Safari'. And mixing these two ways of treating the same theme, there is 'Junglee: Protecting the Jungle'. In this Indian production directed by Chuck Russell, of 'The Mask' and 'The Killer Bubble', we are invited to enter the life of a veterinarian who, upon returning to his father's elephant reserve, finds and fights against an international network of poachers. It is a film with some serious production problems, much due to the lack of tone and strange environment, perhaps the result of a low budget. However, in general, Russell manages to get out of this somewhat bizarre cinema and embrace a loving and very emotional tone. It's not perfect, but you can be moved and have fun with the adventure that the filmmaker so well commands. A strange movie, of course. But worth the fun.
