Why watch this film?

Vaguely inspired by the same-named novel by Daniel P. Mannix, 'The Fox and the Hound' is now considered an underrated Disney classic, although at the time it was not very well received by critics nor entirely successful at the box office. The film was marked by a particularly difficult period for the studio. After all, after the success of 'The Rescuers', it was expected that Walt Disney Animation Studios would rise again in a new "golden age". However, it is the last production to feature the participation of the "Nine Old Men of Disney" (legendary animators who had worked on all productions up to then since the first, 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs'), and was released to compete with the rival studio founded by Don Bluth, another of its former animators. However, 'The Fox and the Hound' is in itself a touching story about the triumph of friendship, which continues to make anyone cry to this day.
