Two poor black brothers commit brutal murders and necrophilia in the 90's in Brazil.

Why watch this film?

It is a fact that Brazil took a long time to uncover the vein of films about real crimes. Although it has a classic in its history, with 'O Bandido da Luz Vermelha', there is no true blockbuster, a popcorn police movie. This genre begins to be developed now in the country, mainly due to the production about the crime committed by Suzane von Richthofen and also with this controversial 'Macabro'. Directed by Marcos Prado (from the good 'Paraísos Artificiais'), the film tells the true story of the necrophile brothers from Rio de Janeiro. They were two poor black boys who killed women in the mountainous region of the state of Rio de Janeiro to, after they were dead, cruelly rape them without shame. Here, the movie hits the mark by bringing depth around the story of these two characters and also adding interesting layers to the investigative plot. The big problem with the feature film, and which has sparked controversy out there, is the way it handles the treatment of the policemen in the movie. In times of Black Lives Matter, it is embarrassing, clumsy, bad. The attempt to enter the field of structural racism is embarrassing. But apart from that, it is worth getting to know 'Macabro' in order to see new possibilities for Brazilian cinema.
