Why watch this film?

Another proof that it doesn't take a very elaborate story to make a good movie. 'The Dig' is a visually beautiful production, with a simple and emotional script. Simon Stone's casting direction work is one of the highlights, Carey Mulligan and Ralph Fiennes rarely disappoint and this is another feature that shows the power of both their performances. Lily James, who has become a trademark figure in Netflix productions, is not left behind and once again stands out. The development of the characters is another strong point of 'The Dig', since it is a story that goes far beyond the proposal of "a wealthy widow hires an amateur archaeologist to dig up the tombs on her property". The density of the script opens up several layers, making the film quite captivating. A powerful drama that discusses culture, history and the need for the collective.
