Why watch this film?
Taiwanese director Joseph Chen-chieh Hsu makes a brilliant debut with 'Little Big Women'. This melodrama emphasizes the richness of East Asian cinema and does so with an elegance rarely seen in Western films, addressing everyday family issues. This is a slow-paced production reminiscent of the rhythm of some of South Korean Kim Ki-duk's films, but it is worth paying attention to. Far from big twists, everything is handled with great subtlety and cohesion. Another merit of the story is that it focuses on five female characters, which are extremely well built.
