Why watch this film?

How often have we wished we had done something differently, changed the mistakes of the past or taken advantage of missed opportunities? Or even further: what would we do if we were confronted with the possibility of a new beginning? Those are some of the questions at the heart of 'Another Earth', the first collaboration between director Mike Cahill and actress and screenwriter Brit Marling (eventual co-creator and producer of the acclaimed Netflix series, 'The OA'). Winner of the Grand Jury Prize at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival, it is an ambitious science fiction film with thematic echoes of Andréi Tarkovski's 'Solaris', which tackles great enigmas and dramatic tension with the modest means of independent cinema.
