Why watch this film?

After the phenomenon that was 'Matrix' worldwide, sequels were inevitable. However, many forget that around the time 'Matrix Reloaded' and 'Matrix: Revolutions' were released, 'Animatrix' also emerged, a compilation of nine short films that expand the mythology of the saga beyond the events of the trilogy. Produced by the Wachowskis (who also wrote four of the shorts), the anthology is an amalgamation of stories and animation styles, which includes big names such as Kōji Morimoto (animator in classics like 'Akira' and 'Kiki: deliveries to home') and Shinichirō Watanabe ('Cowboy Bebop'), among others.
