The creative mind behind 'O Auto da Compadecida', Ariano Suassuna was (and is!) one of the most creative minds in literature and theater in Brazil. His ease of entering into popular Northeastern themes made Brazil gain more colors, more strength, more truth. And 'O Auto da Boa Mentira' further proves this ability of Suassuna, especially for the multimedia power of his stories. Here, we follow five small sketches whose central theme is lying, its motivations and consequences - in the best style of 'Relatos Selvagens'. A pleasant movie to watch, with good script and direction, that will leave anyone traveling in the extremely Brazilian story.

Plot summary
This movie brings together five stories about the motivations and consequences of lying based on Ariano Suassuna stories. They were conceived from lectures by the writer that went viral on the internet. The name of the film, on the other hand, refers to one of the greatest successes of Brazilian cinema, 'O Auto da Compadecida', adapted from the eponymous book launched by the writer 65 years ago.

Carcereiros: O Filme
Based on the successful series from Rede Globo - which, in turn, is inspired by the book of the same name by Drauzio Varella - 'Carcereiros: The Movie' expands and deepens the fictional universe seen on TV, but without requiring much prior knowledge of the plot. The main difference in the feature film is the greater aesthetic care and scale, with grander scenes involving a prison uprising and plenty of action. In the performances, Rodrigo Lombardi feels totally at ease in the role of Adriano, while former BBB Kaysar Dadour is a great surprise as prisoner Abdel Mussa. Although there is not much time for the important debate about the prison crisis in Brazil or a concern to be faithful to reality (unlike what happens on television), the feature film works very well as entertainment.
Alemão 2
"Alemão 2" shows that time does wonders for the audiovisual - especially after a problematic first movie that simplified complex issues. Directed once again by José Eduardo Belmonte, the feature film brings different perspectives and different protagonists. Here, three police officers (Gabriel Leone, Vladimir Brichta and Leandra Leal) climb up Morro do Alemão after the pacification project fails terribly, to capture one of the main drug traffickers (Digão Ribeiro). But things soon get out of control and the three police officers are trapped with no way out. The premise is very similar to what was seen in the first feature film. However, the script by Thiago Brito, Marton Olympio and Pedro Perazzo goes beyond: not only are the three police officers humanized and developed, but also the people around them. Soldado, this brilliantly portrayed drug trafficker, is given an incredibly rare development. When has a black man, a drug trafficker, been humanized in a movie, a news story, a book? They are always shallow villains, more of the same, and they forget that they are people. "Alemão 2" does this. It shows itself to be current, reflective, contemporary. There are also more women: Leandra Leal plays Freitas, a young and inexperienced policewoman who brings a different perspective to the narrative, without falling into female stereotypes. This is exactly what "Alemão" needed but didn't have. The heart of the film, however, is Zezé Motta, who plays a resident of Alemão who is forced to give shelter to the police officers, she is the soul of the feature film. She has the best dialogue of the production (the question about being a nurse, not a doctor), the best clash, the best story. With this, "Alemão 2" continues to be an action movie, with various codes of the genre, but which does not forget the people, the stories, the truth.
As Verdades
In the 1920s, Ryūnosuke Akutagawa wrote two texts that significantly impacted literature: 'Inside the Forest' and 'Rashomon'. The Japanese author brought stories of versions, in which the same fact is told from different perspectives - which inspired the classic Rashomon in cinemas. 'The Truths' embarks precisely on this format. Directed by José Eduardo Belmonte ('German 2'), the feature tells the story of a crime committed in a small municipality in Bahia. It is the first case of Josué (Lázaro Ramos), a newly arrived delegate in the city. Afterwards, this story is told from different points of view of the three characters present at the time of the crime: Cícero (Thomas Aquino), the hitman; Francisca (Bianca Bin), the victim's bride; and Vladimir (ZéCarlos Machado) himself. From there, José Eduardo Belmonte builds an interesting puzzle in which, ultimately, he speaks of the crime. But in deeper layers, there is a very powerful story here about violence against women. With good performance by Bin ('Dirty Canasta'), there is a reflection on how society deals with this type of violence and, of course, how the victim is discredited with "various truths".

Lie With Me (Arrête avec tes mensonges) - An emotional French drama directed by Olivier Peyo, has been awarded the award for Best Narrative Feature Film at FilmOut San Diego. The film follows a writer who returns to his hometown of Cognac after 35 years to represent a cognac brand and reunites with the son of his first love, a role played by Victor Belmondo, triggering an avalanche of passionate memories of his youth.
Kidnapped
In Kidnapped (Rapito), Italian filmmaker Marco Bellocchio delves into one of the murkiest and most controversial episodes in the history of the Catholic Church, the "Mortara case". In 1851, when Jewish boy Edgardo Mortara becomes gravely ill, his Catholic nanny decides to baptize him in an emergency. However, papal law dictates that all Catholics must be raised as such, so the cardinal orders the boy to be taken and handed over to the church, against his parents' wishes, who decide to fight for him. The film recounts a controversial case that captured the attention of the rest of Europe and America, and skillfully portrays the clash of interests between the waning power of the church, Mortara's parents, and public opinion, with irreversible consequences for all involved.
