"Alcione: 'Samba is Cousin to Jazz' is one of those square biographies, even a bit tiresome in its format and idea, which takes a big name from culture and exhaustively talks about their life, history and things like that -- always with care to leave the portrayed image immaculate. Alcione, owner of interpretations such as 'A Loba' and 'Do Not Let Samba Die', won a documentary exactly with this line of portrait. However, despite the absolutely banal format, Alcione's own figure ends up giving strength to the film in general, mainly showing how her daily life is. It is the special ingredient of 'Samba is Cousin to Jazz', leaving it on the acceptable step.

Directed by French artist and environmental activist Anne de Carbuccia, it artistically documents her 10-year journey around the world exploring the impact of climate change in various countries, as well as the solutions undertaken to empower global citizens and address the crisis. At times, de Carbuccia and her works take more prominence than necessary, but she manages to present vital information.
