Why watch this film?

The renowned documentary filmmaker Gianfranco Rosi has once again enchanted - and impressed - with 'Notturno'. The film, awarded at the Venice Film Festival, where it won three awards, shows the harsh reality of people living in the midst of Middle Eastern conflicts. The images were captured over the years in regions of Iran, Kurdistan, Syria, and Lebanon. The documentary is surprising as it shows how heavy it is to live in this environment in contrast to those who have become accustomed to this reality. 'Notturno' is a naturalistic production, without narration or music trying to provoke reactions from the viewer, and this is one of Gianfranco Rosi's greatest merits.
