Plot summary
Fed up with her abusive family situation, lack of school prospects and the “boys’ law” in the neighborhood, Marieme, a teenage girl in Paris, starts a new life after meeting a group of three free-spirited girls. She changes her name, her style, drops out of school and starts stealing to be accepted into the group. When her home situation becomes unbearable, Marieme seeks solace in an older man who promises her money and protection.

'Petite Maman' is a sensitive film about grief with the perspective of Nelly, an eight-year-old girl who has just lost her grandmother. One day her mother, Marion, disappears and she meets a girl, also named Marion. Gradually she discovers that the child is actually the younger version of her own mother. In a very poetic way, Céline Sciamma speaks about time travel while showing us how grief is different for each person.
Portrait of a Lady on Fire
This provocative French drama takes place in a time of greater modesty and social controls, but that does not prevent the blossoming of a forbidden love between a young bride and the artist who must portray her in a painting. Thus, 'Portrait de la jeune fille en feu' mixes an excellent period reconstruction, beautiful photography and an intense romance - which only gains with the performances of Adèle Haenel ('The Unknown Girl') and Noémie Merlant ('Curiosa'). Another highlight in the filmography of director and screenwriter Céline Sciamma, who has already signed productions such as 'Tomboy', 'Girls' and 'Lírios d'Água'.

Kidnapped
In Kidnapped (Rapito), Italian filmmaker Marco Bellocchio delves into one of the murkiest and most controversial episodes in the history of the Catholic Church, the "Mortara case". In 1851, when Jewish boy Edgardo Mortara becomes gravely ill, his Catholic nanny decides to baptize him in an emergency. However, papal law dictates that all Catholics must be raised as such, so the cardinal orders the boy to be taken and handed over to the church, against his parents' wishes, who decide to fight for him. The film recounts a controversial case that captured the attention of the rest of Europe and America, and skillfully portrays the clash of interests between the waning power of the church, Mortara's parents, and public opinion, with irreversible consequences for all involved.
Green Border
'Green Border' - In the treacherous and swampy forests that make up the so called “green border” between Belarus and Poland, refugees from the Middle East and Africa trying to reach the European Union are trapped in a geopolitical crisis cynically engineered by Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko. In an attempt to provoke Europe, refugees are lured to the border by propaganda promising easy passage to the EU. Pawns in this hidden war, the lives of Julia, a newly minted activist who has given up her comfortable life, Jan, a young border guard, and a Syrian family intertwine.
