No, the documentary does not answer what happened to Nina Simone, one of the greatest singers and activists in US and black culture history. Nevertheless, it brings a very immersive view, showing much of her life - relevant for those who followed Nina's career at that time, or for those newer ones who heard little about her. The movie may not have answers, but it is certainly inspiring and provocative.

With this in mind, the documentary 'All In: The Fight for Democracy' seeks to bring this political awareness to the center of the debate. To do this, directors Lisa Cortes and Liz Garbus analyze voter suppression and show how the election process can become more democratic and coherent in the coming years. An essential film for all those interested in politics, which speaks specifically about the system of the United States, but also helps each one to better understand their role as an elector, regardless of the country or style of government in which the viewer lives.
Becoming Cousteau
Just like Valerie Taylor, documentary filmmaker, filmmaker, oceanographer and inventor Jacques-Yves Cousteau became one of the references when it came to the ocean. After all, he was one of the pioneers in the art of recording marine life, making his films and documentaries travel around the world inspiring children, teenagers and even adults about the wonders of the seven seas. 'Becoming Cousteau', a documentary produced by National Geographic and directed by Liz Garbus ('Until the End: The Fight for Democracy'), seeks precisely to rescue this figure. To do this, it takes a tour - a bit too bureaucratic - through Cousteau's life, showing how his journey began at the bottom of the ocean until he became internationally recognized. The main highlights of the film end up being, therefore, not necessarily the biography of the Frenchman, but side aspects. First, the recovered and restored images from the bottom of the sea, breathtaking. And, finally, the environmentalist message that Cousteau always propagated and that becomes increasingly urgent in the 21st century. A biopic, yes, but also a denunciation film about the importance of thinking about the lessons of this red-capped oceanographer on sustainability.
Love, Marilyn
There is a whole myth around the (tragic) life of Marilyn Monroe, a fascination that sometimes overshadows how brilliant her career was. Much has been written, spoken and filmed about this topic, to the point of exploiting the morbidity, so it is appreciated when portrayals honor the person in question. Love, Marilyn is a documentary built from her letters, poems and other writings compiled in the book Fragments: Poems, Intimate Notes, Letters. The letters and testimonies are read on screen by stars like Glenn Close, Viola Davis, Evan Rachel Wood, Adrien Brody and Uma Thurman, with a green screen that, truth be told, is rather unfortunate. It's a somewhat weepy documentary about the topic (director Liz Garbus has done better work, like What Happened, Miss Simone? or Becoming Cousteau), but it reveals who Norma Jean Mortenson was beneath Marilyn Monroe in a respectful manner, making it a good starting point for those interested in learning her story.
