Trailer

Why watch this film?

The movie is based on the popular manga and anime series, originally called 'Shingeki no Kyojin' and created by Hajime Isayama. A commercial success all over the world, the franchise has been adapted into a two-part story in cinemas - this is the first one. The result is a great example of Japanese action cinema, with great fight scenes, blood, and violence but without losing the political allegory of the original work and grounded in good performances of the trio of protagonists - even if the oriental style of interpretation is different from what we are used to in the West. Obviously, the nuances of animation and comics (and character development) are lost with less time to tell a long story, but the movie works as a great gateway for the "uninitiated" to this universe or as an intriguing live-action version for fans.
