The Assassin

A skilled assassin must choose between duty and love in ancient China.

Why watch this film?

A Chinese action movie with stunning visuals, bringing the true beauty of its scenery and martial arts. The plot also brings its own poetic and sophisticated beauty, which may frustrate someone accustomed to Hollywood's aesthetics, but will certainly satisfy those seeking long films that value space and leave stories only centered on characters. Much due to this aesthetic and montage, Hsiao-Hsien Hou was elected best director at the Cannes Festival 2015.
