The movie is based on the autobiography La Bamba by Spanish journalist José Antonio Gurriarán, who was wounded after a terrorist attack from the Secret Army for the Liberation of Armenia. Thus, the film evokes important themes from European political history, such as the Armenian Holocaust at the beginning of the 20th century and the struggle of this people. A narrative to show us all sides of a sad conflict.

Plot summary
n the 80s, Aram, a young man from Marseille of Armenian origin, blows up the Turkish ambassador's car in Paris. Gilles Tessier, a young cyclist who was passing at that moment, is seriously injured. Aram, on the run, joins the Armenian Liberation Army in Beirut, the hotbed of international revolution in those years. Gilles is trying to understand when Anouch, Aram's mother, arrives in his hospital room to beg his forgiveness. She admits that her son planted the bomb. Aram clashes with his comrades in Beirut and decides to meet his victim to make him his spokesman.

French film with strong influences from Ken Loach ('I, Daniel Blake') and Hirokazu Koreeda ('Shoplifters'), 'Gloria Mundi' is one of those films that like to provoke discussions. More specifically, about people living on the margins of society who never manage to fully emancipate themselves. After all, director Robert Guédiguian dives into the story of a family that sees the world crumbling down on their shoulders. The father has just been released from prison and has no opportunities, the mother works two shifts, the daughter has just had a baby and works in a clothing store. It's a French family that usually doesn't appear on the big screen, leaving this kind of story in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower. There is a lack of subtlety and delicacy in the way 'Gloria Mundi' is told, mainly because it does not offer escapes to the viewer. But that's okay. Guédiguian was true to the facts. And that's what we see on the screen, without filters or jokes. It's life as it is. Let's not forget that.

In Kidnapped (Rapito), Italian filmmaker Marco Bellocchio delves into one of the murkiest and most controversial episodes in the history of the Catholic Church, the "Mortara case".
