Why watch this film?
This fun Russian action movie produced for the international market features Antonio Banderas - who has specialized in appearing in indie and low budget films in recent years, which is the case here. With an accelerated pace, the story is about a casino heist, but with a lot of magic involved and several scenes with computer graphics. Although it reuses many of the formulas and plots already explored in Hollywood, it is an interesting escape.

From Russia comes an adventure-filled, magical movie. 'Abigail' and the Forbidden City brings together a beautiful steampunk visual and an interesting story in one package - but it's good to remember that, despite its ambition, this is not a Hollywood production. So you may see imperfections in the special effects, or find some over-the-top or off-key performances. Still, the overall result is quite interesting and should please those who like stories like 'Hugo Cabret's Invention', for example.

Jean-Claude Van Damme makes his starring debut in the descriptively titled Bloodsport. Whoever survives the bout will be crowned Kumite champion of the world…a title that has plenty of challengers with homicide in their hearts. The finale offers a duel to the death between Van Damme and reigning Kumite king Bolo Yeung. The script is based on the real-life exploits of martial arts champ Frank Dux, who serves as the film's fight coordinator.
