Why watch this film?

One of the greatest Hollywood classics of the 1960s, winner of two Oscars - including Best Original Song for 'Moon River'. It is also considered Audrey Hepburn's best performance ever, earning her a Golden Globe nomination for the lead role. To modern eyes there are some dated and anachronistic representations - like Mickey Rooney as Japanese I.Y. Yunioshi, but taking all that into consideration it's not something that will ruin the experience when watching. Also noteworthy is a star nowadays little remembered: Orangey, who brings Audrey's cat to life in the movie, and who was a big star of TV and cinema from the late 1950s to early 60s. The star is the only one to win two Patsy Awards, an award dedicated to cinema animals, the second one being precisely for 'Breakfast at Tiffany's'.

Plot summary

Winner of two Oscars, the romantic comedy that sparkles like diamonds! The names Audrey Hepburn and Holly Golightly have become synonymous since this dazzling romantic comedy was translated to the screen from Truman Capote's best-selling novella. Holly is a deliciously eccentric New York City playgirl determined to marry a Brazilian Millionaire. George Peppard plays her next-door neighbor, a writer who is "sponsored" by a wealthy Patricia Neal. Guessing who's the right man for Holly is easy. Seeing just how that romance blossoms is one of the enduring delights of this gem-like treat set to Henry Mancini's Oscar-winning score and the Oscar-winning Mancini-Johnny Mercer song "Moon River."
