Why watch this film?

Lord Mountbatten is an important figure in recent British history. Years before mentoring Prince Charles and being killed in an IRA attack, he was the last viceroy of India - responsible for transitioning the country from British to Indian hands. The film respectfully portrays this period, bringing the cultural shock between a British Lord and Asian life, as well as all the difficulties he faced, such as the division of the region into two countries - albeit with a British-centric view in the narrative. Recommended for fans of Hindu culture, history, or great dramas.
