This is a look at unglamorous rural America, permeated by poverty and violence. 'Steel Country' is a gritty and well-executed thriller. The cinematography and direction achieve an immersive atmosphere of anguish. Although the diversity of characters is interesting in itself, it is the protagonist, Andrew Scott, who stands out.
