'Dulce Familia' is a Mexican comedy from a female perspective, featuring characters from different generations and their relationships with the standards imposed by society. The main performances of Fernanda Castillo and Vadhir Derbez stand out, as both gained more than ten kilos to embody their respective characters. It also brings the return to the big screen of Florinda Meza (Dona Florinda from 'Chaves') as the typical mother. It is worth noting that the comedy is entirely produced under the Mexican gaze, so the Brazilian audience will have a different perception of the theme.

Plot summary
Tami is ready to take the big step and marry Beto. When she was a child, her mother promised her that she could wear her wedding dress, the problem is that it doesn't fit. With the help of her sisters and her desperate mother, she will do everything possible to drop twenty pounds in two months and have the wedding of her dreams.

Que Pena tu Familia
In this final installment of his trilogy (preceded by 'Qué pena tu vida' and 'Qué pena tu boda'), filmmaker Nicolás López bets once again on a comedy that works in all aspects, and that manages to appeal to the emotions of the audience. A matter as tough as divorce is not given the typical treatment of American romantic comedies, but rather a realistic one. This is how we see the protagonists in deep pain due to their separation, and we feel compassion for them. Additionally, various topics such as jealousy and competition are introduced, which exploit the chemistry between the acting duo. Without a doubt, the closure of this trilogy is with a golden touch, for it shows, once again, that no premise or argument is too simple when there is honesty in the script.
No Estoy Loca
It's a Chilean comedy from the same creators of the successful 'Qué pena tu vida' and 'Sin filtro' (the latter with a Mexican remake, 'Una mujer sin filtro'). 'No estoy loca' is a movie that, with lots of laughter in between, manages to shed light on several vital topics about contemporary femininity, particularly around the social pressures and expectations that exist around the decision to have children (or not) and form a family, whatever that may mean. Its humor relies too much on fairly archetypal characters (almost to the point of caricature), a resource that doesn't take long to run out. However, if you're looking to be entertained by a funny movie that touches on relevant topics about what it means to be a woman in the 21st century - albeit superficially - it deserves a chance.
