All of this addressed by none other than white comedian Chelsea Handler (of 'Chelsea Lately'). Although it is a self-assessment that has its importance and can resonate with those who identify with the protagonist, helping them understand the issues raised, the film also ends up gaining a certain arrogance and a "white savior" tone, precisely one of the most common criticisms of this type of production.
