Why watch this film?
Vincent Cassel (from 'Black Swan' and practically an honorary Brazilian) is the star of an interesting film set during the Napoleonic Wars. Like that historical period, the movie is a mess, full of blood and action scenes. Even though the script isn't the strong point, the production engages us with its beautiful period reconstruction (including gorgeous sets and locations) and, of course, Cassel's performance.

Plot summary

"A Moment of Weakness" is a remake of "Un moment d'égarement", a 1977 film. Although the premise may be uncomfortable for some, it comes with the guarantee of Vincent Cassel and François Cluzet, two of France's greatest current actors, who demonstrate a brilliant sense of humor in this movie.
Ma 6-T va crack-er
This movie, originally released in 1997, was directed by French filmmaker Jean-François Richet (who later signed long films such as 'Public Enemy No. 1' or 'Assault on the 13th District'). Outside of France, 'Meu Bairro Vai Rachar' (or 'Ma 6-T va crack-er', its original title) is cult for releasing a contagious energy of rebellion and even a strong political position regarding social and economic inequality, as well as revolt against authority - something for which the French are quite recognized.
Blood Father
Starring Mel Gibson, Diego Luna, Erin Moriarty and William H. Macy. An action movie that was featured at the Cannes Festival and deserves to be seen. After all, seeing Mel Gibson back in action doing what he does best: being a cynical tough guy and saving his daughter from a drug cartel. The plot doesn't have great moments, nor is it inventive - it ends up being more like 'Taken' than it seems at first glance. However, it's almost impossible not to be mesmerized by the action and violence sequences, which keep the tone of the movie high all the time. For some fun and to dive into this action universe, watch 'Blood Father'.
Plane
We can almost say that Gerard Butler is a genre of its own: the type of actor classified in the same type of action movies with plots that border on the absurd, but are very successful. 'Plane' is a good example of this: the plot sees Butler as a pilot who saves his passengers from a forced landing, but that's just the beginning of an odyssey involving rebels, kidnappings and a mysterious ally (Mike Colter). A critical situation, frantic action and not much logic. In other words, more of the same. If you like traditional action movies or Butler films like 'Invasion to the Secret Service' or 'Final Destruction', you will like it. If you are looking for something more meaningful, it's better to move on.

The Book of Clarence
Biblical epics in the style of Ben-Hur are so recognizable in classic cinema that they have been the subject of witty parodies (most notably, the also classic Monty Python's Life of Brian). Here, director Jeymes Samuel (The Harder They Fall) filters the conventions of these films through a black lens, with a cast led by names like Lakeith Stanfield, Alfre Woodard, David Oyelowo, Omar Sy, and Anna Diop, among others. The Book of Clarence follows a man who, aspiring to be someone in life, decides to capitalize on the popularity of Jesus of Nazareth for his own benefit. Through the biblical cliché, the film examines issues such as black identity, the distortion of faith by organized religions, and the very sense of goodness and compassion. It's somewhat uneven but nonetheless entertaining.
