Why watch this film?
It's not the first time it happens: a complex literary work is reduced and simplified to become a movie (after all, we read little and watch a lot). In this case it happened with the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel 'The Goldfinch', turned into a movie with the excellent cinematography of veteran Roger Deakins ('No Country for Old Men') and with a good performance by Ansel Elgort ('Baby Driver') in the lead role, plus a great participation by Nicole Kidman. The big problem is that its two and a half hours are not enough to try to cover what happens in the more than one thousand pages of the original work. There are very complex and important parts that are solved through flashbacks and short scenes that do not allow the construction of a complete, logical and congruent story.
