Why watch this film?
The YouTube channel Porta dos Fundos troupe needs no introduction: with quick sketches and good punchlines, they satirize the everyday life of Brazilians. And their ambitions are not small: after linear TV series, movies for the cinema and much more, they are now on their second Christmas special exclusive to Netflix. 'Porta dos Fundos Christmas Special: The First Temptation of Christ' follows the spirit of the first, 'Christmas Special: If You Drink, Don't Ceie', but delves even deeper into the inspiration from 'Monty Phyton's' 'Life of Brian'. Recommended for fans of the group - but it's not exactly the best program to watch on a traditional Brazilian family Christmas (unless you want to create controversy and avoid talks like "and the boyfriends/girlfriends").

Drawing clear inspiration from Monty Python's 'Life of Brian' and the 'Hangover' movie series, Brazilian comedy troupe Porta dos Fundos presents a Christmas special that actually parodies an Easter story: the Last Supper of Jesus. Fábio Porchat writes the script and stars in the short film as Jesus, bringing the sharp, current humor that the group is known for on YouTube - though not as good as its inspirations, especially those from the land of the Queen.
Teocracia em Vertigem
After 'Democracy in Vertigo', we have 'Theocracy in Vertigo', a satire from Porta dos Fundos about the current situation of the world and Brazil. This is the group's end-of-year special, which once again explores biblical themes from a mocking point of view. In the movie, narrator Clarice Falcão investigates who Jesus Christ was and how he was judged - using social media as the main device and the weight it has gained in recent years. It can be said that the production is at least daring, creative and yields good laughs.
Detetive Madeinusa
It's always special when we see big names of Brazilian humor joining forces for a movie - and that's the case with the new Amazon Prime Video exclusive production 'Detetive Madeinusa', starring Tirulipa and Whindersson Nunes. The movie tells the story of a rookie detective (Tirulipa) who is hired by a billionaire lobbyist (Whindersson) to investigate the theft of a prize-winning bull. To unravel the mystery, the detective assembles an unbeatable team to embark together on this adventurous and funny investigation. It's very hard not to know the work of Tirulipa or Whindersson nowadays, both very famous in comedy and with previous successes in cinema like 'Os Parças'. And, once again, they put on a show. Tirulipa is the protagonist and carries a lot of the movie's comedy in his already known and beloved style. In addition to the two, the cast also features Antonio Tabet, mainly known from Porta dos Fundos. A gem of the new national humor that will make fans of the protagonists' style laugh out loud.
Juntos e Enrolados
Typical national comedy, with all its characteristics and mannerisms, 'Juntos e Enrolados' tells the story of Julio (Rafael Portugal) and Daiana (Cacau Protásio), a couple who, after much struggle, manage to save up enough money for their wedding. Everything is good, right? Wrong. Before the ceremony, the groom receives a text message that shakes the foundations of the couple. From there, directors Eduardo Vaisman and Rodrigo Van Der Put (from the Porta dos Fundos Christmas specials) play around with the peculiarities of a relationship. The highlight, and what should make people laugh, is the performance of the duo of protagonists. Cacau, one of the main names in Brazilian comedy, plays a common and extremely relatable type that naturally causes humor. Rafael Portugal, on the other hand, bets on a more present physicality with a character who goes through a lot. A fun and funny movie, made to measure to pass the time.
Especial Porta dos Fundos: O Espírito do Natal
Every year, the Porta dos Fundos crew produces their Christmas special on Paramount+. Until 2021, all of them were of a religious tone, always in parody format, upsetting those more aggressive believers. In 2022, however, Porta changed the tone a bit. In "The Spirit of Christmas", the cast (Fábio Porchat, Antonio Tabet and other names) make a real terror - a mix of comedy and horror - about this so-called "Christmas spirit". It's fun and shows that the group of comedians knows how to make fun at Christmas beyond this religious parody.

Love, Divided
From hate to love, there's only one step. Or, in this case, a very thin wall. Love, Divided (a remake of the French film Behind the Wall) is about a game designer (Fernando Guallar) who can only concentrate in absolute silence, which becomes a problem when a singer and pianist (Aitana) who is preparing for an important audition, moves into the adjacent apartment. It's a predictable romantic comedy, and the outcome can be seen from miles away. However, if you enjoy this kind of story, Patricia Font's remake is still charming.
