Why watch this film?

Jackie Chan is one of the world's favorite martial arts stars, thanks to the comedic approach to action and fighting in his movies. 'Drunken Master' not only propelled him to stardom in Hong Kong, but it's also key in defining his unique style of action and comedy on screen: his career could not be understood without it. In addition to featuring the humorous fights that would become a staple of his later films, this movie also has the added value of being based on the story of a real character: Wong Fei-Hung, who did in fact train under the legendary master So Chan, an expert in the particular style of "drunken kung fu".
