Why watch this film?

The premise of 'Frères ennemis', in which great friends become mortal rivals, is something we have seen thousands of times before, in movies like 'Once Upon a Time in America' and 'The Prince of Egypt'. However, the great merit of this French crime thriller is its use of tension, with a story well grounded in the social and cultural context of its country, where various sectors of the population remain subject to criminality due to marginalization. In addition, the performances of the protagonists Matthias Schoenaerts ('Rust and Bone') and Reda Kateb ('Django') are phenomenal. The feature was selected at the Venice Film Festival and competed for the Golden Lion.
