Why watch this film?

Critically panned, 'Dolittle' brings some of the most embarrassing moments of 2020 cinema. After all, this new version of Hugh Lofting's classic book has a quirky Robert Downey Jr., nonsensical plots, and even a dragon getting a colonoscopy. Director Stephen Gaghan (of the great drama 'Gold') definitely didn't get the tone right between comedy and adventure. But in the end, it's one of those stories that ends up captivating you with its bizarreness. There are no crass jokes like in 'Dr. Dolittle' with Eddie Murphy, but a strange and peculiar humor born out of unexpected situations and even second-hand embarrassment. In addition, it's important to highlight the good voice work here, with actors of the caliber of Emma Thompson, Rami Malek, Octavia Spencer, and Ralph Fiennes. Not to mention the special effects, which are jaw-dropping at times. Are there problems? Without a doubt. But laughter can come from unexpected places and fun can be guaranteed. Just don't take it all too seriously.
