Why watch this film?

Mexican actor José María Yazpik ("Las oscuras primaveras") stars in his own directorial debut, a film that might make you think it is “just another narco film” but nothing could be further from the truth. With beautiful photography by Tonatiuh Martínez ("Sueño en otro idioma"), "Polvo" uses the lens of comedy to portray how a society is corrupted by greed and consumerism driven by the "easy money" of drug trafficking, and how sooner or later we all become part of the problem. In addition to Yazpik, the cast is made up of several greats of national cinematography, such as Joaquín Cosío, Jesús Ochoa, and Mariana Treviño, who was awarded at the 2019 Morelia International Film Festival for Best Actress.
