Why watch this film?

Where there is an activity, profession, or sport that is considered exclusive to men, there will always be an extraordinary first time for the women who break the mold. Even if a sailing race may sound uninteresting, 'Maiden' automatically becomes fascinating by telling the inspiring story of Tracy Edwards, who dared to challenge the rules, inspired other women to do the same, and succeeded, which in turn transformed the paradigms in that sport. The documentary, nominated for a BAFTA and premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, is made up of archival material and emotional current testimonies from Edwards and other members of her crew, who recall their small but powerful legacy for female empowerment.
