Why watch this film?
How can we make sense of life, which at any moment can strip us forever of everything that matters to us? It's an ineffable search that is nevertheless common, necessary, and eternal in the human experience, something that Mexican documentary 'Los ojos del mar' manages to demonstrate with great sensitivity. The story starts with the mysterious disappearance of the fishing boat Black Fin, in Veracruz, Mexico; and it is told from the perspective of Hortensia, alias "La morena", who takes it upon herself to help the families of the missing find a way to say goodbye to those who disappeared into the sea. Documentarist José Álvarez ('Canícula', 'Flores en el desierto') not only allows us to take a look at the routines of those who live off fishing, but also at the very particular mourning process, in the mouths of the orphans and widows, frustrated by the immense power of the sea that devours everything.

Through a select group of girls participating in a federal government simulation in Missouri, this film reveals, firstly, how American politics operates. But secondly, and more importantly, it explores how an environment supposedly empowering girls can both propel and limit them at the same time, raising questions about what we understand about power and the ways to exercise it.
Earth Protectors
Documentaries about the climate crisis are never too many, but sometimes it can be challenging to find one that presents its arguments in a different and memorable way. Earth Protectors is a worthy attempt. Directed by French artist and environmental activist Anne de Carbuccia, it artistically documents her 10-year journey around the world exploring the impact of climate change in various countries, as well as the solutions undertaken to empower global citizens and address the crisis. At times, de Carbuccia and her works take more prominence than necessary, but she manages to present vital information.
