Why watch this film?
Starring Kiersey Clemons ('Yuli'), 'Sweetheart' at first glance looks like a monster movie like 'Cloverfield: Monster' or 'Alien: The Eighth Passenger', with some touches of 'Cast Away' with Tom Hanks. However, this film presented at the Sundance Film Festival also has very subtle subtexts that lend themselves to various interpretations, including representations of machismo, racism and class differences, among others. The plot is quite simple, as most of the time it is reduced to a protagonist trying to understand the dangers around her and survive. However, thanks to Kiersey's work and Gina Hirsch's editing, as well as a solid camera job, this simple script is more than enough to keep you involved in suspense. It is also noteworthy that the feature is produced by Jason Blum and his Blumhouse Productions, of genre successes such as 'Paranormal Activity' and the new 'The Invisible Man'.
