Why watch this film?
Winner of four awards at the Turin Film Festival, 'For Some Inexplicable Reason' is Hungarian director Gábor Reisz's feature film debut, and although it tells a story with some very particular elements of its nationality, it can generally be considered an eccentric and honest portrait of a generation: young people with degrees, but unemployed and with a feeling of purposelessness permeating their family and romantic relationships. Its naturalistic photography with its acerbic sense of humor may be shocking to some, but there's no doubt that it's an original proposal in its approach to contemporary youth.
