Why watch this film?
There are many examples of movies about nostalgia for the past, specifically childhood. Among them, 'A Felicidade Não Se Compra', 'Morangos Silvestres', 'Cinema Paradiso' and even, let's say, 'Citizen Kane', just to mention some stories from different parts of the world and with different tones. Incorporated into the romantic drama, 'Bubblegum' is this type of movie, with the peculiarity of being set in Bulgaria during and after the communist regime, with the breakage of expectations, ideologies and the transition of these periods for the citizens who lived there (which would make this film a relative of the German 'Goodbye, Lenin!' or, in some way, of the Russian 'Summer'). Even if it is told in a very similar way to the productions of other countries that bet on this nostalgia, the result is still an emotional romance, with the added value of taking a look at a country and a period that is not very usual in the cinema on this side of the world.

Plot summary
Kalin (35) is a talented advertising specialist, weary of life. Bilyana (35) is a free spirit, still uncertain of what she wants. They grew up in Socialist Bulgaria, where they were part of a mad group of friends, for whom every day was a different adventure. Childlike, they had a pact to get married. The two of them meet 25 years later.

Kidnapped
In Kidnapped (Rapito), Italian filmmaker Marco Bellocchio delves into one of the murkiest and most controversial episodes in the history of the Catholic Church, the "Mortara case". In 1851, when Jewish boy Edgardo Mortara becomes gravely ill, his Catholic nanny decides to baptize him in an emergency. However, papal law dictates that all Catholics must be raised as such, so the cardinal orders the boy to be taken and handed over to the church, against his parents' wishes, who decide to fight for him. The film recounts a controversial case that captured the attention of the rest of Europe and America, and skillfully portrays the clash of interests between the waning power of the church, Mortara's parents, and public opinion, with irreversible consequences for all involved.
Green Border
'Green Border' - In the treacherous and swampy forests that make up the so called “green border” between Belarus and Poland, refugees from the Middle East and Africa trying to reach the European Union are trapped in a geopolitical crisis cynically engineered by Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko. In an attempt to provoke Europe, refugees are lured to the border by propaganda promising easy passage to the EU. Pawns in this hidden war, the lives of Julia, a newly minted activist who has given up her comfortable life, Jan, a young border guard, and a Syrian family intertwine.
