Why watch this film?
Disaster movies are known for their reputation of prioritizing visual spectacle over all narrative logic (one need look no further than Dwayne Johnson's 'San Andreas' Fault), suggesting that the genre has little else to offer. In this sense, 'Bølgen' is a pleasant surprise from Norway that breaks this rule, to the point of making Hollywood productions seem inept by comparison. The film has a solid character development from the script, which does not diminish the visual spectacle in any way, but adds even more narrative tension. If you're looking for casual entertainment that doesn't underestimate its audience, this is a proposal you'll love.

This time, the franchise bets on a young and inexperienced Lara, played by Oscar-winning Alicia Vikander ("The Danish Girl"), also following the line of the more recent games. This adds a new layer to the heroine, who is still becoming the explorer we all know and is discovering the truth about her past. The result is a movie that elevates Alicia's great performance and with good action scenes, almost like a "survival film" - but lacks a good story to support it all.

If we take classic giant monster movies like Godzilla or King Kong and filter them through Nordic folklore, the result would be something like 'Troll', from Netflix. Directed by Roar Uthaug ('The Wave'), this Norwegian film offers a fairly simple premise: a giant monster emerges from the mountains and destroys everything in its path, so humanity must now face the problem of figuring out what the creature is and putting an end to it... before it ends everything. A well-conceived monster and disaster movie that, although it won't change the course of this type of production, will satisfy fans looking for something different.

Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 is the unlikely sequel to the feature film that placed the characters of this playful and childlike universe into a world of violence and horror. However, don't expect a production as weak as the previous film: with the success of the first installment at the box office, the production had more money to invest, and thus Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 manages to be more realistic, violent, and impressive compared to the first film. The characters' masks are much scarier, and it ceases to be a complete joke. It's still difficult to take the film entirely seriously, especially with this bizarre premise of Pooh and his friends seeking bloody revenge, but you can already feel more fear and, above all, immerse yourself in the wave of violence that the film promotes. To have fun with friends.
