Why watch this film?

After his Sundance Film Festival award-winning documentary, 'Return to Homs', filmmaker Talal Derki returned to Syria to make a documentary about a topic that is widely talked about in the Western world but is actually very little known: jihadist terrorism and Islamic extremism as life prospects. 'Of Fathers and Sons' is a daring yet highly relevant piece of undercover work by a documentarian who in this case posed as a sympathizer of his subjects to provide the audience with an intimate look into Islam in one of its most radical forms. As fascinating as it is chilling, the documentary reveals the ideology and expectations of jihadist guerillas and, even more importantly, how these are passed on to the children who will join their ranks.
