Inga has just lost her husband, a farmer from a rural region of Iceland, and finds herself obligated to run the farm in order to support her family. However, in an act of rebellion and liberation, she decides to break away from a kind of mafia in her town that keeps farmers in a vicious cycle. Directed by Grímur Hákonarson (of the great 'The Black Sheep'), 'Héraðið' delves into a powerful story of resistance and transformation, placing a solitary woman as the protagonist of her own story. And even though it speaks about a specific case, of a person from a rural area in the far reaches of Iceland, it is a plot that transcends its boundaries. Going against the cold and pallor of the portrayed region, 'Héraðið' speaks of the strength of women and their power to transform a society stuck in the past, connecting with the present.
