Why watch this film?

Presented during the French Film Tour 2019 and directed by the French filmmaker Lisa Azuelos ('Lol@', 'One Meeting'), 'My Girl' is a dramedy whose heart lies in the everyday moments of life as a divorced woman and mother in today's era: interactions between friends, rediscovering romantic life (through Tinder, no less), as well as the chaos and nostalgia of raising children, seeing them grow up and facing the "empty nest" when they leave home. Even if the movie is sometimes too romantic, the chemistry between the young actress Thaïs Alessandrin and the acclaimed Sandrine Kiberlain (winner of the César Award for '9 Months... Under Sentence!) make the relationship between mother and daughter believable and touching, with a positive representation of femininity seen from different generations.
