Trailer

Why watch this film?

The fight for environmental preservation is a recurring theme in world cinema, especially in documentaries. Movies like 'The Age of Stupidity', 'The Last Hour' and 'Home' warn of the need for quick action to stop deforestation and global warming. Now, the Brazilian documentary 'Voices of the Forest' highlights the individual strength in this fight and the importance of the so-called guardians. In this case, female leaders in forest areas fighting against illegal logging while fighting for women's rights. From this, director Betse de Paula gives voice to these women and makes a kind of denunciation film about the importance of these groups, while facing the neglect of government officials and big businessmen. There are no great narrative or direction tricks, as in the excellent 'Being So Old Cerrado', but the content ends up awakening the theme for the audience and touching with good stories.
