Sniper: Assassin's End

A sniper turns to his legendary father for help when accused of assassination.

Why watch this film?

Nothing like a good old-fashioned action movie with little content but plenty of adrenaline. Such is the case with 'Sniper: Assassin's End', the new film from director Kaare Andrews. Here, he moves away from the horror-trash genre that made his name in the alternative cinephile world and moves towards this "pure blood" action. The plot, led by veteran Tom Berenger ('Origin'), ends an infinite franchise of films started in 1993 with 'Sniper'. Everything has already happened in the story, but now it seems to be heading for its end with the protagonist handing over the sniper baton to his son (played by an insipid Chad Michael Collins). There are no surprises in the story or in the way Andrews treats it. Those who should be excited about this (possible) end are the fans, who have been waiting for a conclusion to the story for 27 years. The rest of the audience, meanwhile, can be content with some interesting action scenes here and there, catchphrases and everything you expect from an action feature film that knows its limitations.
