Why watch this film?
One of the most iconic films of Tim Burton's career ('Edward Scissorhands', 'Ed Wood') and directed in partnership with animation specialist Mike Johnson, the feature film 'Corpse Bride' quickly became an icon of the latest pop culture. Just like 'The Nightmare Before Christmas', the movie has a striking stop motion visual and a story as strange as the rest of Burton's filmography: that of a young man who accidentally marries a corpse bride and visits the land of the dead. It is a daring animation, with a good voice work by Johnny Depp ('Pirates of the Caribbean') and Helena Bonham Carter ('Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban'), which works for adults and children. After all, even though it is cute and childish in several moments, its message transcends generations when talking about the limits of life and death. Indispensable.

Robot Dreams
Sometimes we get so carried away by the marketing power of studios like Disney Pixar, and we overlook other avenues for deep and powerful animated stories that don't need excessively complex plots to evoke emotions. Such is the case with Robot Dreams, a Hispanic-French production directed by Pablo Berger (2012’s Snow White), based on the eponymous graphic novel by Sara Varon. Set in New York during the 80s, the story follows Dog, whose solitary life leads him to buy a robot for companionship. Their friendship grows, but an unfortunate day at the beach forces them to separate and long for the day of their reunion. Virtually without dialogue, with vibrant animation and a captivating visual language, the film tells a simple yet profoundly moving story about (curiously) human relationships and the course they take despite (or because of) accidents, fortuitous circumstances, and uncontrollable events that happen throughout life.
Masha and the Bear: Twice the Fun
