Trailer

Why watch this film?

This inspiring and entertaining documentary is the directorial debut of actress Bryce Dallas Howard ('Jurassic World') and was featured at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival, where it placed third in the Audience Award competition. 'Dads' first goal, through interviews and intimate family videos, is to explore what fatherhood means in the contemporary world, with all the expectations, risks, and transformations that come with it. The interviews with gay fathers, such as actor Neil Patrick Harris or activist Rob Scheer, are particularly enriching. In a not-so-subtle but interesting way, the feature also brings the story of Hollywood's family legacies, with Bryce interviewing various celebrities whose parents or children are also famous -- like Will Smith or even her own father, filmmaker and actor Ron Howard ('A Beautiful Mind'), who, in turn, is the son of actor Rance Howard ('Cocoon').
