Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory

A boy wins a golden ticket to tour a mysterious chocolate factory.

Trailer

Why watch this film?

First adaptation of Roald Dahl's children's novel, which would later also be brought to life by filmmaker Tim Burton. Here, Gene Wilder (from 'Blindman, Deafman, and Dumb' and 'Young Frankenstein') surprises with a funny performance (and worthy of memes) as the strange Willy Wonka. The effects, obviously, are not as good and striking as Tim Burton's adaptation. However, director Mel Stuart's inventiveness ('While Dreams Live') and Dahl's own screenplay help create the relaxed but full of ideas atmosphere of this adaptation to travel through chocolate.
