Don’t Air Your Dirty Laundry In Public

Two housemaids in Mexico rebel against their abusive employers.

Why watch this film?

Just like Mexican box office successes such as 'Nosotros los Nobles', this movie is a satire that has at its core not only the huge economic gap that has defined class dynamics in Mexico, but also the deplorable attitudes of racism, classism, sexism, and generalized discrimination that characterize it (hence, it is thematically more similar to the award-winning drama 'El ombligo de Guie'dani'). Due to its satirical nature, however, the approach of 'Los trapos sucios se lavan en casa' could be perceived as somewhat crude, supported by stereotypes and clichés. Nevertheless, actors such as Arath de la Torre ('Busco novio para mi mujer') and Giovanna Zacarías ('Sonora') work very well to make people laugh and, at the same time, put their finger on the wound of the privileged classes.
